В эпоху технологических прорывов, изменений в законодательстве и изменчивых ожиданий клиентов инженерно-конструкторские предприятия сталкиваются с двойным риском – быстрой коммерциализации и быстрого устаревания. Основываясь на последовательном исследовании 127 фирм с использованием смешанных методов три континента, 218 качественных интервью, 83-часовое наблюдение, мы выделили пять взаимосвязанных областей возможностей – капиталоемкость знаний, зрелость инновационной экосистемы, архитектура взаимоотношений с клиентами, операционное совершенство и стратегическая адаптивность, – которые в совокупности объясняют 67,8% разницы в производительности. Кластерный анализ выявляет четыре типичные конфигурации возможностей, в то время как регрессионная диагностика дает количественную оценку предельной доходности семи инвестиционных рычагов. Структурно-уравнительное моделирование выявляет четыре высокоэффективных пути интеграции, которые преобразуют отдельные возможности в самоусиливающиеся системы. Получившаяся в результате структура предлагает как усовершенствованную теорию конкурентных преимуществ в условиях наукоемкого проектирования, так и последовательный подход к управлению потоками знаний, технологическими активами и человеческой изобретательностью в рамках согласованного механизма конкуренции.

Amid an era of technological discontinuities, regulatory upheavals and mercurial client expectations, engineering-design enterprises face a dual risk of swift commoditisation and rapid obsolescence. Drawing on a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study of 127 firms three continents, 218 qualitative interviews, 83 h observation, we distil five inter-locking capability domains – knowledge capital intensity, innovation-ecosystem maturity, client-relationship architecture, operational excellence and strategic adaptability – that jointly explain 67,8% of performance variance. Cluster analysis reveals four archetypical capability configurations, while regression diagnostics quantify the marginal yield of seven investment levers. Structural-equation modelling uncovers four high-impact integration pathways that convert discrete capabilities into self-reinforcing systems. The resulting framework offers both a refined theory of competitive advantage in knowledge-intensive design settings and a sequenced managerial playbook for orchestrating knowledge flows, technology assets and human ingenuity into a coherent competitive engine.
