Problems of adaptation of international students in a new academic environment: cultural, academic and psychological aspects

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the problems of adaptation of international students in the academic, cultural and social environment. The focus is on the difficulties faced by students studying abroad, including cultural shock, language barriers, psychological problems, and social exclusion. Four stages of cultural adaptation are considered: the honeymoon, hostility, humor and the home stage. Special attention is paid to the role of cultural and emotional intelligence in the successful adaptation of students. Strategies for improving adaptation, such as mentoring, social support, and the use of counseling services, are also proposed.
