Innovative approaches to teaching English literature in Russian universities: stylistic aspect

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of innovative methods of teaching stylistic techniques of English literature in the higher education system of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the study is to identify the most effective approaches to the formation of students' competencies in stylistic analysis of literary text. The methodological base consisted of: content analysis of work programs of disciplines (n=120), a survey of teachers (n=85) and students (n=450), a pedagogical experiment (n=120). It was found that the greatest learning effect is achieved with a combination of problem-based, contextual and interactive approaches (p<0.01). The integration of digital resources increases student engagement by 30% (p=0.03). 4 factors have been identified that significantly affect the effectiveness of teaching: methodological competence of the teacher (β=0.35; p<0.01), consideration of students' cognitive style (β=0.28; p<0.05), balance of classroom and independent work (β=0.32; p<0.01), timely feedback (β=0.30; p<0.01). The results obtained open up prospects for the development of adaptive teaching models that take into account the individual characteristics of students. The practical significance of the research is related to the possibility of implementing the proposed approaches in educational programs of a philological profile.
