Information culture and information technology education

Abstract

With the beginning of the popularization of information technology at the end of the twentieth century, the era of the information society and the knowledge economy began, when learning using IT is no longer something exceptional. The number of courses using various multimedia resources has also increased. Significant funds are being invested in their development, as well as in improving the material and technical base of educational institutions throughout the country. A large number of textbooks on information technology have been prepared under the guidance of universities and publishing houses. The investment boom has sparked a lively debate in the education sector: is such a huge investment in the development of information technology courses really necessary? The answer to this question lies in the practical results that have already been obtained: the widespread use of information technology encourages people to quickly master popular multimedia, which, of course, contributes to accelerated development at the stage of basic education. In this sense, the creation of information technology courses is primarily designed to meet the needs of the continuous development of information culture, which, in turn, is generated by the massive use of information technology. This study comprehensively analyzes the role and content of the concept of information culture, as well as the prospects for the development of this aspect of information technology.
