Abstract

The piano miniature represents a highly effective didactic resource for the comprehensive improvement of the performing apparatus of student pianists in Chinese higher educational institutions, where the historically established eclecticism of methodological traditions originating from Russian, German, and American schools enters into contradiction with the mass character of training and the predominance of mechanistic stereotypes of technical drill. Within the framework of systemic conceptualization, the performing apparatus is regarded as an integrative psychophysiological, motor, and intellectual structure that ensures not only motor fluency but also the subtlest differentiation of sound production, articulatory plasticity, dynamic nuance, pedaling mastery, and overall bodily freedom. This is particularly relevant for overcoming characteristic gaps in the training of Chinese students, in whom the priority of speed and accuracy often displaces the development of sonic palette and artistic-imaginative thinking. The compactness of form and concentration of artistic content in the miniatures of Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, Scriabin, as well as works by Chinese composers, enable a holistic approach to the piece, with multiple elaborations within the limited time of individual lessons typical of local universities. This creates conditions for the formation of integral motor patterns, variability of motor tasks, and the prevention of rigid stereotypes. The developed methodology, based on the principles of an individualized diagnostic map of technical priorities, the method of technical focus with concentration of attention on one key parameter per lesson, stylistic contrast, and the inclusion of national repertoire comprising no less than one third, is structured through successive analytical-auditory, technical-corrective, and integrative-artistic stages. This ensures the organic unity of technical and artistic development. The obtained results testify to the statistically significant superiority of this approach, manifested in an average increase in indicators across six diagnostic parameters, reaching nearly threefold acceleration compared to traditional programs, with maximum effectiveness in relation to pedaling mastery, articulatory flexibility, and apparatus plasticity, which previously represented the most vulnerable areas. The identified typology of learners’ reactions – uniform, abrupt with delayed insight, and slow sustained growth – underscores the necessity of differentiated pedagogical support that takes into account culturally conditioned features of communication and expectations of clear structuring. Of particular importance is the transfer of formed micro-competencies to large-scale forms, carried out through conscious analogies, as well as the creation of an interpretative atmosphere in the lesson that overcomes the reproductive mindset. Overall, the study establishes that the small form is optimal precisely for cultivating fine sound regulation and motor flexibility, offering an adaptable system of pedagogical conditions that harmonizes national identity with the universal principles of piano art and can be integrated into various models of music education, thereby contributing to the enhancement of training quality for contemporary Chinese pianists in a competitively oriented educational environment.
