Abstract

The article examines the features of developing professionally significant skills among students in the context of educational and professional communication. The role of communication skills and the competency-based approach in the process of students’ adaptation to the educational environment of higher education institutions is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the types and spheres of communication, their importance in the development of professional competencies, as well as to the issues of teaching the Russian language to non-language major students for whom Russian is not their native language. The importance of using texts of various functional styles, considering cultural aspects, and developing speech culture and interpersonal interaction is emphasized. It is concluded that effective educational and professional communication contributes to the formation of the future specialist’s personality, professionalism, and successful integration into the professional environment. The paper also reveals the features of students’ speech adaptation during the learning process. The influence of the educational environment on the development of students’ communicative competence is considered. The importance of motivation and cultural interaction in learning Russian as a foreign language is highlighted. Special attention is paid to the teacher’s role in selecting educational materials and organizing professionally oriented communication. It is emphasized that the development of communicative and professional skills is an important condition for training a competitive specialist.
